Description of key information

Metal carboxylates such as fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts are substances consisting of a metal cation and a carboxylic acid anion. Based on the solubility of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts in water, a complete dissociation of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts resulting in potassium ions and fatty acids, C9 -13 neo ions may be assumed under environmental conditions. Abiotic degradation is not relevant for potassium ions. Neodecanoic acid anions have potential for an indirect photochemical degradation but this process appears to be negligible.Furthermore, a direct photochemical degradation is unlikely since neodecanoic acid does not absorb light within a range of 290 to 750 nm. In addition, potassium cations and neodecanoate are not subject to hydrolyzation as both ions lack hydrolysable groups.Therefore, abiotic degradation is not considered to significantly affect the fate of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts in the environment.
