Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Two experimental studies are available investigating the effects of Fatty acids C16-18 (even numbered), oligoesters with sucrose to aquatic algae. Both studies were performed according to OECD 201 (GLP) with the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata under comparable conditions. The difference between the two studies is the preparation of test solutions. In the key study the test substance was added directly to the test vessels without a further processing step whereas the test solutions were additionally filtered in the supporting study. Limit loading rates of 100 mg/L were tested for a duration of 72 h. No analytical monitoring of the actual test item concentrations was performed. Thus, the effect concentrations were based on the nominal loading rate only. The effects on growth rate were investigated by measuring the chlorophyll content with a spectrophotometer (key study) and coulter counter (supporting study). In addition algae cells were checked microscopically at the end of exposure for any abnormalities.
At the end of exposure no inhibition of growth was recorded in both studies resulting in an ErL50 (72 h) > 100 mg/L and a NOErLR (72 h) ≥ 100 mg/L based on the nominal limit loading rate.
