Description of key information

Metal carboxylates such as zinc 3,5,5 -timetylhexanoate are substances consisting of a metal cation and a carboxylic acid anion. A complete dissociation of zinc 3,5,5 -timetylhexanoate resulting in zinc cations and trimethylhexanoate anions may be assumed under environmental conditions. Thus, the fate of zinc 3,5,5 -trimethyl hexanoate in the environment is most accurately evaluated by separately assessing the fate of its constituents zinc cations and trimethyl hexanoate anions. Zinc cations and trimethylhexanoate anions (and its structural analogue neodecanoic acid) are not subject to hydrolysation since all ions lack hydrolysable groups.
