Description of key information

The environmental fate and pathways of barium 4-dodecylphenolate is most accurately evaluated by seperately assessing the fate of the moieties barium and 4-dodecylphenolate. Biodegradation is not relevant for inorganic substances, including metals and metal compounds such as barium.

Barium: Degradation/biodegradation testing is not relevant for barium.

4-dodecylphenolate: Based on a reliable QSAR prediction with BIOWIN (v4.10) for phenol, dodecyl-, branched, the 4-dodecylphenolate anion may not be considered readily biodegradable.
