Principles of method if other than guideline:
At defined concentrations of a substance arise after the test period different percentages of dead fish. The LC 0 and LC 100 values were determined directly, while the LC 50 value is determined by calculation or graphically from the concentration-response curve.
The test duration is 96 hours.

yes
Details on sampling:
- Test concentrations: 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg/L
- direct weighing

no
Details on test solutions:
- Conditions: static test according to the Guideline
- Light-dark phase: 16 h light / 8h dark
- Test procedure: Test aquaria 300 x 135 x 200 mm; 5 L test medium, ventilated; static

Test temperature:
Control: 21.3 - 21.8 °C
Test item: 21.4 - 21.7 °C
pH:
Control: 7.6 - 8.1
Test item: 7.7 - 8.1
Dissolved oxygen:
Control: 8.4 - 9.0 mg/L
Test item: 8.5 - 9.3 mg/L
Nominal and measured concentrations:
Nominal concentrations: 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg/L
Details on test conditions:
The substance was weighed in water to produce the individual test concentrations stirred for 3 hours on a magnetic stirrer.
The result specification refers to the substance, calculated from the measured TOC values (1 mg/L TOC is equivalent 1.2 mg/L test substance).

Details on results:
Geometric mean: LC0 / LC100 : LC50 = 21.4 mg/L
Validity criteria fulfilled:

Conclusions:
The arithmetic mean of LC0 / LC100 was calculated as LC50 = 21.4 mg/L after 96 hours esposure.
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of dibenzylamine to Fish (Danio rerio) was determined in a 96 -hour static test according to EU method C.1 'Acute toxicity for Fish' (1992). Under the conditions of the present study, the 96 -h LC50 (arithmetic mean) was calculated as 21.4 mg/L.

Description of key information

The study of Bayer (1995) investigating the acute toxicity of dibenzylamine to fish according to EU Method C.1 was considered as the key study for endpoint coverage (klimisch score of 2). An EC50 of 21.4 mg/L (based on arithmetic mean concentration) was obtained after an exposure of 96 hours in a static test in freshwater.
