No effect up to the limit of water solubility; read across
Data on the acute toxicity of the target substance Nonanoic acid,
esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane to fish are not
available. The assessment was therefore based on a study conducted with
the analogue substance Fatty acids, C8-10, mixed esters with adipic acid
and trimethylolpropane (CAS 95912-89-3) as part of a read across
approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006,
Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary
chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification in IUCLID section 13.
The acute toxicity study on Fatty acids, C8-10, mixed esters with
adipic acid and trimethylolpropane (CAS No. 95912-89-3) was conducted
under semi-static conditions according to OECD guideline 203 using Danio
rerio as test organism. The test was set up as a limit test with a
nominal loading rate of 1000 mg/L (WAF). No mortality occurred in the
control and the treatment during the 96 h exposure period. The
determined LL50 (96 h) was > 1000 mg/L nominal loading rate (WAF).
Based on the results of the read across substance (in accordance
to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) acute toxic effects of
the target substance to fish are not expected.
