Endpoint:
hydrolysis
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable

Description of key information

Not relevant due to ready biodegradability (90% in 28 d, ISO 10708; 68.1 - 71.7% in 28 d, OECD 301B); read-across

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Fatty acids, C16-18, stearyl esters (CAS 85536-04-5) is readily biodegradable. Thus, it is expected to be eliminated from the aquatic and terrestrial environment within a short period of time. Therefore, testing for hydrolysis is not required in accordance with Annex VIII, column 2, 9.2.2.1 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.
