Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no experimental data on the acute toxicity of the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2.6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen, deaminated (MCHAmix, EC 943-517-5). Therefore, read-across approach was applied to 2-Methylcyclohexylamine (CAS 7003-32-9), which is one of the representative constituents of MCHAmix (EC 939-489-9) and to 2,6-dimethylcyclohexylamine (CAS 6850-63-1) which is a structurally similar chemical.

The source substance 2,6-dimethylcyclohexylamine (CAS 6850-63-1) has a 96 -h LC50 value of 31.8 mg/L (nominal, not pH-adjusted). This study was performed according to German National Standard DIN 38412, part 15 which is similar to OECD Guideline 203. Test conditions were static without analytical verification of the test concentrations, but the substance is considered to be stable in water due to its high water solubility, its moderate vapor pressure and its low Henry's Law Constant. Test species was Leuciscus idus.

A delayed toxic effect was observed when the fish were exposed to a pH-adjusted sample (100 mg/L; BASF AG, 1987, Rep. no.: 10F0267/875102). However, the mortality was the same after 96 h (= 100%).

This study was selected as key study based on the lower LC50.

The constituent 2-Methylcyclohexylamine (CAS 7003-32-9) has a 96 -h LC50 value of 35.1 mg/L (measured; not-pH adjusted) in a static study performed, according to OECD Guideline 203. Danio rerio was used as test species (BASF AG, 1987, rep. no.: 17F0062/965017).

Based on the available experimental information from the read-across, MCHAmix (EC 945-517-5) is considered to be acutely harmful to fish.
