Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension was determined in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 115 and EU method A.5 without deviations on the registered substance itself. Hence, there is no indication given that the results are not reliable. Values ranging from 35.23 mN/m to 35.64 mN/m were recorded showing no significant variations. As the determined surface tension of Sulfobetaines, coco alkyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl) was lower than 60 mN/m, the test item can be classified as surface active.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of the test item was determined by means of a plate tensiometer according to OECD 115 and EU method A.5 (GLP). The surface tension of an aqueous solution of Sulfobetaines, coco alkyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl) was determined as 35.45 ± 0.07 mN/m at 20.4 °C. One measurement was performed for verification (after 61 minutes). No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time was observed. As these values were lower than 60 mN/m, Sulfobetaines, coco alkyldimethyl(3-sulfopropyl) was classified as surface active. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range.
