PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene is considered as hydrolytically stable and is not ready biodegradable. Therefore, based on the data currently available, 1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene is considered as potentially persistent in the environment as a worst-case assessment.

Bioaccumulation

The measure log Kow of 1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene was determined tobe 2.4, and hence biocaccumulation is not expected. Based on a Log Kow<= 4.5, the substance is considered not to fulfil the B or vB criteria for PBT assessment.

Toxicity

Based on the available data on acute and chronic aquatic toxicity, 1,4 -Bis (4 -hydroxy benzoyl) benzene shows no signs of toxicity at its limit of solubility. Therefore therefore 1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene does not fulfill the criteria for aquatic toxicity.

1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzeneis not classified as being a CMR and there is no evidence that it is chronically toxic towards mammals. Therefore 1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene is not assigned as toxic.

Overall conclusion on PBT assessment

Although the criteria for P or vP are met, 1,4-Bis (4-hydroxy benzoyl) benzene is not B/vB or T. Therefore, overall the substance may be considered as not PBT/vPvB.
