Indirect photochemical degradation of the test material which is a trimellitate ester (i.e., 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic acid triester) as mediated byOH-attack is estimated to have ahalf-life of 0.246 days or 2.96 hr based on a 12 -hour sunlight day, a rate of 43.4 E-12 cm3/molecule*sec, and an average OH- concentration of 1.5E6 OH-/cm3. A 12-hour day half-life value normalizes degradation to a standard day light period during which hydroxyl radicals needed for photolysis are generated in the atmosphere. Although the test substance has the potential to degrade rapidly byOH-attack,multimedia distribution modeling indicates the test substance is predicted to partition negligibly (0.04%) to the air compartmentbecause it has a low vapor pressure ( 1.34 x e-12 Pa). Although the test substance has a relatively short atmospheric oxidation half-life (2.96 hours), this process is unlikely to contribute significantly to the loss of test susbtance (CAS No. 70225-05-7) from the environment.
