Description of key information
The toxicity of Diurea 8 to aquatic micro-organisms gave a 28 day NOEC of 13.6 mg/L.

The toxicity of Diurea 8 to aquatic micro-organisms was taken from the toxicity control flask in a ready biodegradability test (Harlan 2011). Aquatic micro-organisms were exposed for 14 days to 13.6 mg/L Diurea 8 (equivalent to 10 mg C/L) and sodium benzoate, at 10 mg C/L, in a toxicity control vessel and the carbon dioxide evolved was evaluated. The toxicity control attained 45% degradation after 14 days, which is greater than the 25 % required, thereby confirming that Diurea 8 was not toxic to the sewage treatment micro-organisms used in the test.
