Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Diurea 8 only occurs in a grease base designed to minimise leaching of the thickener. No experimental bioaccumulation data are available for Diurea 8. Although the predicted log octanol-water partition coefficient (log Kow) data indicate constituents of Diurea 8 have the potential to bioaccumulate, predicted bioconcentration factors (BCF) suggest otherwise. The result of the Tier 1 BCF screening calculations (US EPA 2009, Connell and Hawker 1988) indicates that only one component out of the 18 possible structures present in Diurea 8 meets the criteria for bioaccumulative (BCF >2000 L/Kg). The other 17 structures have predicted BCF values <2000 L/Kg.

As the log octanol-water partition coefficient is predicted to be above 6, Diurea 8 is expected to reside within the grease base oil matrix and as such, the levels of exposure will be minimal and its bioavailability will be restricted. On the basis of the information and data provided, Diurea 8 is not expected to be bioaccumulative.
