Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A number of measured values are available for the melting point a major component of this UVCB substance, 2 -(2 -(2 -ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol. Three are very similar and it is unclear whether these are slightly imprecise reporting of the same original experimental value. Another significantly different value is available from a secondary source. A QSAR considered as reliable predicts that the melting point of this substance will be much higher at 35C. The same QSAR predicts that the melting point of the other major component (the next member of this particular glycol ether series) will be 72C. Clearly the QSAR over predicts the melting point but it is reasonable to assume that melting point of the higher molecular weight members of the series of molecules making up this UVCB substance will increase. On the other hand, the lower molecular weight members will act as solvents for the higher molecular weight members. An expert assessment leads to the conclusion weighing up the measured data leads to a conclusion that the melting point is likely to be well below zero and a figure of <20C is retained as the key parameter for this end point
