Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
21-day NOEC >0.015 mg/l: effects of D5 on survival, reproduction and growth of Daphnia magna, read-across to Constituent 1, Vi5-D5. No effects were observed up to the water solubility limit of the test substance.
21-day NOEC ≥0.00378 mg/l: survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna for Constituent 2, Vi4-D4. No effects were observed at the maximum achievable concentration of the test substance in test media.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
No long-term aquatic toxicity data are available for the registration substance. Although this is not a requirement at this annex level, long-term tests should be considered because the substance is poorly water soluble. If only short-term data are provided, a “safety net” classification Category Chronic 4 could apply because the substance is poorly soluble and shows no acute toxicity up to the limit of water solubility, is not rapidly degradable and has a log Kow >4. Long-term aquatic toxicity studies have therefore been included.
There are no reliable long-term invertebrate toxicity data available for Constituent 1 of the registration substance, 2,4,6,8-tetramethyl-2,4,6,8-tetravinyltetrasiloxane (Vi5-D5, CAS 17704-22-2), therefore data are read across from decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5, CAS 541-02-6). A 21-day NOEC of >0.015 mg/l has been determined for the effects of D5 on survival, reproduction and growth of Daphnia magna. Effects were not seen within the limit of solubility in test media.
A reliable long-term invertebrate toxicity study is available for Constituent 2 of the registration substance, 2,4,6,8-tetramethyl-2,4,6,8-tetravinyltetrasiloxane (Vi4-D4, CAS 2554-06-5). A 21-day No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) of ≥0.00378 mg/l based on geometric mean measured concentrations has been determined for the effects of Vi4-D4 on survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna, in accordance with OECD TG 211. No effects were observed at the maximum achievable concentration of the test substance in test media.
Refer to Section 6 Ecotoxicological Information for further discussion of the approach to chemical safety assessment for this registration substance, and justification for read-across used.
