Description of key information

No data on acute aquatic toxicity to algae are available for sodium 1-hydroxyethanesulphonate. Given the very high structural similarity the evaluation of these endpoints can rely on the data available for sodium 2-hydroxyethanesulphonate (CAS No. 1562 -00 -1).

Sodium 1-hydroxyethanesulphonate is expected to be not acutely toxic for algae at concentration of > 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
