Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Based on REACH regulation ANNEX VIII column II, a study on the toxicity of a substance to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria does not need to be conducted if it is readily biodegradable and its water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 25 °C. Ester B is considered readily biodegradable and has a water solubility value of 0.37 mg/L at 25 °C, therefore, it is not expected to be toxic to aquatic algae. An algal growth inhibition test was performed on Desmodesmus subspicatus according to the OECD Guideline 201 (2011) which supported this prediction. The test item did not significantly inhibit the growth rate or yield of D. subspicatus following a 72-hour exposure up to its solubility limit; therefore, the ErC50 and EyC50 values were determined to be greater than 100 mg/L, and the NOEC is at least 100 mg/L, based on nominal concentrations.
