Details on sampling:
The test item (50.34 mg) was dissolved in acetonitrile and made up to the mark in a 50 mL
volumetric flask to prepare a stock solution of 1007 mg/L. Thereof, 1 mL were diluted to 10 mL
using acetonitrile/water (v/v, 9/1) to obtain a working solution with a concentration of 101 mg/L.
Defined volumes of this working solution were diluted with acetonitrile/water (v/v, 9/1) to obtain
calibration solutions of the test item in the range of 0.101 to 10.1 mg/L. These solutions were
used to calibrate the GC-MS-system.

Details on results:
The microscopic examination of the algal cells at the end of the test showed no difference between the algae growing at the nominal test concentration of 100 mg/L and the algal cells in the control. The shape and size of the algal cells were obviously not affected by the test item up to at least this concentration.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
latest positive control test performed in 2008: 72-hour EC50 for the growth rate 0.69 mg/L
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
A test on growth inhibition to Scenedesmus subspicatus was conducted according to OECD 201. Analytical measurements revealed that the test substance concentration was >80% during the test. After 72 h of exposure, both EC10 and EC50 were determined to be >100 mg/L, related to the growth rate.
Executive summary:

The influence of the test item on the growth of the freshwater green
algal species Scenedesmus subspicatus was investigated in a 72-hour static test according to the OECD Guideline 201 (2006) and the EU Commission Directive 92/69/EEC, C.3.
The nominal concentrations of the test item of 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100 mg/L were tested in parallel with a control. The measured concentrations of the test item in the test media of the test concentrations of 46 and 100 mg/L were between 87 and 103% of the nominal values at the start and the end of the test. The test item was stable in the test media over the test period of 72 hours. The biological results were related to the nominal concentrations of the test item.

The biological results of the study were as follows:

EC10 >100 mg/L (growth rate); 60 mg/L (yield)

EC50 >100 mg/L (growth rate); >100 mg/L (yield)

EC90 >100 mgL/L (growth rate); >100 mg/L (yield)

NOEC ≥100 mgL/L (growth rate); 46 mg/L (yield)

LOEC ≥100 mgL/L (growth rate); 100 mg/L (yield)
