Conclusions:
MEC-90: 10000 mg/L (Spirillum volutans)
Executive summary:

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the test substance on Spirillum volutans, through the loss of typical motility of this bacteria.

The test substance was initially tested in 3 different nominal concentrations of 100, 500 and 10000 mg/L, with 2 replicates, being added to 0.1 mL of 24 hours culture of Spirillum volutans. Plates with one drop of each sample were prepared and observed microscopically at time zero.

New plates were prepared at 5, 15 and 30 minutes intervals, and observed microscopically. The minimal effective nominal concentration that causes loss of typical reverse movement for 90% of bacteria after 30 minutes of exposure was greater than 10000 mg/L, under the conditions of the test. The result indicates that under the conditions of the test, the concentration of 10000 mg/L of the product did not present acute toxic effects.
