Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The aquatic toxicity of Lithium Salicylate was determined by read-across to Dilithium Salicylate. This read-across approach

is based on the hypothesis that the hydrolysis of the dilithium salt of salicylic acid where the carboxylic acid and hydroxyl group are

present in the meta-isomer position would show similar biodegradation and toxicity patterns to the monolithium salt.

The aquatic effects of the target substance (monolithium salt) is predicted based on complete dissociation into salicylic

acid and lithium hydroxide with the source substance liberating two lithium ions. The 48 hour EC50 value for Dilithium Salicylate is39 mg/L with 95% confidence intervals of 32 to 46 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations.
