Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22 - 26 Jan 1990
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Analytical monitoring:
no
Vehicle:
no
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Common name: Zebra fish
- Source: no data
- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): no data
- Length at study initiation (length definition, mean, range and SD): no data

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: 96h under flow-through conditions

FEEDING DURING TEST
- none
Test type:
flow-through
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Test temperature:
22.0 - 22.5 °C
pH:
7.0 - 7.7
Dissolved oxygen:
10 - 100%
Oxygen is limiting on the highest concentration (75 mg product/L). However, at the other concentrations oxygen was not limiting. Since for the LD50 calculation the highest concentration is not relevant, the oxygen depletion at this concentration does not devaluate the test.
Nominal and measured concentrations:
0, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 75 mg/L of product (nominal concentration)
Details on test conditions:
TEST SYSTEM
- Test vessel: 3 L water tanks filled with 2 L of test water
- Type of flow-through (e.g. peristaltic or proportional diluter): no data
- Renewal rate of test solution (frequency/flow rate): 4 times the test volume (2 L) per day
- No. of organisms per vessel: 5
- No. of vessels per concentration (replicates): 2

TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: copper and chlorine free drinking water

OTHER TEST CONDITIONS
- Adjustment of pH: no data
- Photoperiod: 16 hours light/ 8 hours dark

Additional information

One short term fish toxicity test is available for C12-14AS Mg (CAS 90583-23-6). The GLP non-limit test (BASF, 2002) was performed with D. rerio according to OECD 203 guideline under static conditions. The fish were exposed to five test concentrations up to 75 mga.i./L. The 96-h LC50 value was 7.9 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration).
