- Endpoint:
- flammable solids
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 11 April 2016
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
- Version / remarks:
- 2008
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Key result
- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- other: Not highly flammable in accordance with EU criteria
- Conclusions:
- Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.
- Executive summary:
The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions.
In the preliminary test the flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train until the powder ignited. The test was performed two times. The test material could not ignited. Based on the results of the preliminary test, no main test was performed.
Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.
Reference
- In the preliminary test the test material could not ignited. Based on the results of the preliminary test, no main test was performed.

Additional information
Flammability (solids)
The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).
In the preliminary test the flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train until the powder ignited. The test was performed two times. The test material could not ignited, based on the results of the preliminary test, no main test was performed.
Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not highly flammable’.
Flammability (contact with water and pyrophoric properties)
The molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and handling of the substance indicates that this is the case.
Justification for classification or non-classification
In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
