Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:

According to QSAR estimation methods (using USA EPISUITE modules WSKOW and WATERNT) for the three main components of C.I. Solvent Blue 79, the water solubility ranged anywhere from 4.01E-09 to 3.5 E-3mg/L. Using the column elution method, the water solubility of C.I. Solvent Blue 79 was determined to be <0.1 mg/L at 20°C.

The USA EPISUITE KOWWIN (v.1.69) was also used to predict the Log Kow of the 3 main components, and these ranged from 7.63 to 10.98.

Using the ECOSAR program (developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, v 1.11), the predicted effect levels for acute toxicity to aquatic algae exceeded the estimated water solubility of each of the chemical structures evaluated. Thus, no acute effects at water saturation were predicted for the test material, and the study was deemed scientifically not necessary.

No acute effects at water saturation were predicted for the test material, therefore acute testing with aquatic algae is waived since the study is scientifically not necessary.
