Does not evolve highly flammable gases on contact with water, EU Method A.12, Jackson 2000
Does not spontaneously ignite on contact with air at ambient temperature, EU Method A.13, Jackson 2000
Not a self-reactive substance, UN Test H4, Bailey 2014

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

In studies performed according to EU Method A.10, A.12, and A.13 and in accordance with GLP, the test substance did not burn or propagate combustion (Jackson 2000). In addition, the test substance did not evolve highly flammable gases on contact with water, and did not spontaneously ignite on contact with air at ambient temperature.

In a Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) Test, performed in accordance with UN Guideline H4: Heat Accumulation Storage Test and with GLP, the temperature at which the test sample undergoes exothermic decomposition under low heat loss conditions was determined (Bailey 2014). Exothermic decomposition was not detected over a period of 7 days at a temperature of 75 ºC.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification for flammability is not warranted in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC.

Classification as flammable solid is not warranted in accordance with EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Based on the flash point classification as flammable liquid is not warranted in accordance with EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Classification as pyrophoric solid is not warranted in accordance with EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Classification for emitting flammable gases in contact with water is not warranted in accordance with EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

Classification for self-reactivity is not warranted in accordance with EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
