Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient - Shake Flask Method)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The substance contains as a main component x·sodium y·Lithium 3,3'-[(1-oxido-1,2-diazenediyl)bis[(2-methoxy-1,4-phenylene)-1,2-diazenediyl]]bis[4,5-dihydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonate]. Owing to this substance is ionisable, it was not possible to apply any of the OECD guidelines to study its partition coefficient n-octanol/water and, as is stated in the paragraph 107.4 of the OECD 107 Guideline, in these cases Pow can be calculated from individual solubilities in water and in octanol.

Conclusions:
The calculated log P o/w of the test substance is -2.49

Description of key information

The annex of guideline OECD 107 has been used as the basis of the calculation to determine the partition coefficient. The value of the partition coefficient has been estimated from the solubility of the test substance in the pure solvents.
