Description of key information

The acute toxicity of Lutetium oxalate to Daphnia magna was investigated in accordance with OECD guideline 202 and conform GLP requirements (ECT, 2018; Klimisch 1). A limit test and a concentration-response test were performed, in which no adverse effects were observed up to and including at the highest concentration tested (i.e., a 100% v/v of the supernatant or the filtrate of a saturated solution at a loading rate of 137 mg test item/L, corresponding to 100 mg/L anhydrous lutetium oxalate). The EC50(48h) was therefore > 100% v/v of the filtrate at a loading rate of 137 mg/L. This study was assigned key status for endpoint coverage, and based on its results it can be concluded that lutetium oxalate is not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
