Description of key information

The test item is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion under the effect of heating nor to shock and to ignition.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The explosiveness of the test item was investigated (BASF SE, 17/0070, 2017) according to the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and UN Transport Regulations test series 1 and 2. For safety reasons the sensitivity to impact and friction was tested in a preliminary test. Assessment of the results within the meaning of the tests showed that there is no violent effect from intensively heating the substance under high confinement. Furthermore, test 1 (c) showed that the maximum pressure reached is less than 2070 kPa gauge. Proven by results of test 2 (c), the time for a pressure rise from 670 kPa to 2070 kPa is 30 ms or more, whereby a pressure of 2070 kPa gauge was not reached. Therefore, the test substance shows slow or no deflagration. In conclusion, the test item is not considered to exhibit a danger of explosion.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with Annex I, Section 2.1 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the tenth time in Regulation (EC) No 2017/776, and UN GHS Rev 7 (2017) the substance has not to be classified as explosive in class 1.
