First-aid measures

After inhalation : supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Consult doctor if symptoms persist.
After skin contact : remove contaminated clothes, wash affected area with soap and water and rinse thoroughly. If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.
After eye contact : rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult a doctor.
After swallowing : do not induce vomiting; call for medical help immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: dry sand, extinguishing powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: water, foam, CO2, water spray, water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture :
Reacts violently with water and foam.
When extinguishing wet, pay attention to the corrosive effect and danger of slipping.
Fire residues must be disposed of properly.

Instructions for fire fighting :
Extinguishing water must not be allowed to enter drains, underground or watercourses. Provide adequate water retention facilities for extinguishing water. Contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Fire residues must be disposed of in accordance with regulations.

Accidental release measures

Cover with dry sand Take up mechanically.

Environmental precautions : keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately.
Do not allow to penetrate the ground/soil.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up : send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles

Handling and storage

Protective measures for safe handling :
Avoid product residues on / at the containers.
Under inert gas (argon, nitrogen).
In case of leakage: wear personal protective equipment. Provide good ventilation or extraction.

Take precautions against electrostatic charges.
Keep away from sources of ignition - Do not smoke.
Use spark-proof tools.
Avoid formation of dust.
If dusts are generated, potentially explosive dust/air mixtures are possible.
Keep tightly closed, cool and dry in the original container.
Protect from heating.
Avoid moisture and water.
Storage under inert gas (nitrogen) is recommended.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Technical protection measures
If possible, use closed decanting/refilling, dosing and mixing systems or provide for local extraction. Inertisation with: nitrogen.

Respiratory protection
In the event of breathing aerosols / vapours: use respirator with suitable filter (filter type P1) or wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Hand protection
Nitrile rubber glove material.

Eye protection
Close-fitting safety goggles.

Skin and body protection
Wearing a tight chemical protective suit and self-contained breathing protection.

Hygiene measures
Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Remove contaminated or soaked clothing immediately. If necessary, use disposable clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the area of application. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

Possible self-ignition due to atmospheric humidity.

Conditions to avoid
Avoid the formation of dust.
Keep away from sources of heat and ignition.

Incompatible materials
Water, oxidizing agents, acids, halogens, halogenated compounds.

Hazardous decomposition products
Decomposition products during hydrolysis in water : Sodium hydroxide solution, 2-methylpropan-2-ol
Decomposition products in case of fire and thermal decomposition : Carbon dioxide (CO2), Carbon monoxide, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium oxides

Disposal considerations

Disposal in accordance with local regulations.

Uncleaned packaging
Do not reuse empty containers and dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.
