Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Justification for type of information:
Please refer to Read Across Statement attached in Section 13
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source
Duration:
48 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
> 1 020 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
dissolved
Basis for effect:
mobility
Remarks on result:
other: As the only immobilization was 5% at 1000 mg/L, no significant effect was observed at the tested concentrations of the test product.
Details on results:
- Mortality of control: None
- Other adverse effects control: None
Results with reference substance (positive control):
- Results with reference substance valid? Yes
- Mortality: No
- EC50(24h): 1.6 (1.4-1.7) mg/L (This is in the specified range: 0.6-2.1)
- Other: Less than 10% of the control animals were immobilized
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
< 10 of control animals were immobilized. Dissolved ozygen saturation at the end was ≥ 98% in both tests and controls. EC50(24h) = 1.6 mg/L for control substance (K2Cr2O7, CAS no 7778-50-9) which in the specified range (0.6-2.1 mg/L)
Conclusions:
EC50(48h) of the substance exceeds 1020 mg/L for Daphnia magna.
Remark: the test solution contains NaOH due to the production method.

Due to the similarity of the target substance, SBP1-Na, and the source substance, IBP1-Na, the result of this study is assessed to be adequate in order to fulfil the requirements of REACH. The read-across approach is further described in the document “Justification of read across from CAS No 53378-51-1, IBP1-Na (source) to CAS No 33619-92-0, SBP1-Na (target)” attached in “Point 13 Assessment reports”.
Executive summary:

The test was performed according to the OECD guideline 202 under GLP compliance. The test was done on Daphnia, the animal was exposed to the test item for 48 hours. As the immobilization was 5% observed at 1000 mg/L, no significant effect was observed at the tested concentrations of the test product. Thus EC50(48h) of test item exceeds 1020 mg/L

Description of key information

Read-across, OECD 202: EC50(48h) value of the test item is determinded >1020 mg/L.
