Test procedure:
other: Grewer oven
Remarks:
test item in mixture with Kieselguhr
Max. temp. reached:
600
Result:
other: temperature increase was observed starting at 350°C

In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer Oven for the pure test item an endothermic process was detected starting at a temperature of approx. 220 °C, which can be assigned to the melting of the test item. No further thermal processes could be observed up the maximum test temperature of approx. 420 °C. After the measurement a swollen black residue remained in the wire basket.

For the test item in mixture with Kieselguhr an endothermic process was detected starting at a temperature of approx. 220 °C, which can be assigned to the melting of the test item. The endothermic effect is directly followed by an exothermic process starting at a temperature of approx. 230 °C that led to a maximum temperature of approx. 330 °C (corresponding oven temperature 240 °C). A further exothermic effect was observed starting at a temperature of 350 °C, which led to a maximum temperature of approx. 600 °C (corresponding oven temperature 410 °C).

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The pure test item Adenosine (CAS no. 58-61-7) indicated no self-heating at atmospheric pressure up to its melting temperature of approx. 220 °C.
On the basis to the results of the tests on the self-ignition in the Grewer Oven the test item is classified as follows:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item is not classified as self-heating substance in class 4, division 4.2 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS / CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11: The test item is not classified as self-heating substance according to GHS/CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11, respectively.
