Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The self ignition temperature of 4-Amino-m-cresol is not detectable as, no self-ignition was observed up to the melting point (about 160°C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The auto-flammability of 4-Amino-m-cresol was evaluated by following the EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids).

An 8 cm3 stainless steel cube was entirely filled with the test substance and gently compressed by pushing the cube. The cube was then suspended in the centre of the oven at room temperature. The oven temperature was increased up to the melting point at a rate of 0.5°C/min. The test was performed over a period of >12 hours, from 20 to 380 °C.

4-Amino-m-cresol melted at about 160°C and no significant phenomena were noted before the melting point.
