Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
adjustments of equilibration temperature and time to assure accurate results for the sample.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
In order to obtain a solid sample on which to perform the test, 100 g of the test substance, Lauryl Betaine solution, (lot 5983K16), was placed in an oven at 110°C for 5-6 hours to drive off the water. 2 g of the ‘dehydrated’ lauryl betaine was placed in a pan at 110°C for 1 hour yielding 88.5% Solids.
Key result
Water solubility:
>= 45.83 - <= 46.84 other: wt%
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Incubation duration:
1 wk
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
>= 7.2 - <= 7.3
Details on results:
Based on the data shown, the water solubility of Lauryl Betaine, lot 53983K16, at 25°C is 46.4% ± 0.5%.

Sample pH Analysis (1 gram, 1 hour @ 110°C)
First 7.3 46.62
Second 7.3 46.84
Third 7.2 45.83

An average value of 46.4% +/- 0.5% was reported.

Description of key information
