Solubility of Terpineol multiconstituent in water
The water solubility of substance terpineol multiconstituent was tested according to OECD guideline 105 (flask method). The water solubility was 2847 mg/l at 20°C.

Short-term fish toxicity:
A fish study was conducted with terpineol multiconstituent according to OECD guideline 203. In a 96-h acute toxicity study, Danio rerio fish were exposed to the test item at concentrations of 0 (test medium control), 28, 36, 47, 62 and 80 mg/L} under semi-static conditions. The results are based on the nominal concentrations.
The 96-h LC50was between 62 and 80 mg/L. The NOEC value, based on mortality effects, was 62 mg/L. Sublethal effects were observed at the concentration of 62 mg/L: abnormal behaviour, the fish stayed on the side, at the bottom of the aquarium and showed a shortness of breath.
The 96h-LC50was > 62 mg.L.
Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
A study was conducted with terpineol multiconstituent on Daphnia magna according to guideline OECD 202 under static conditions. Daphnids were exposed to the test item at nominal concentration of 0, 40, 48, 58, 69, 83 and 100 mg/L for 48 hr. Mortality, immobilization and sublethal effects were observed daily. The results are based on the nominal concentrations.
The 48-hr LC50/EC50 was 73 mg/L. The 48-hr NOEC based on mortality was 40 mg/L.
Toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria:
A study was conducted with terpineol multiconstitent on freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata according to guideline OECD 201 over 72 h. Algae were exposed to the test item at nominal concentration of 0, 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100mg/L. The results were based on Time Weight Average exposure concentrations: 3.9, 8.8, 21, 44 and 91 mg/L.
Terpineol multiconstituent reduced growth rate and inhibited the yield of this fresh water algae species significantly at 8.8 mg/l and higher.
The EC50for growth rate reduction (72h-ERC50) was 68 mg/L
The EC50for yield inhibition (72h-EYC50) was 17 mg/L.
The NOEC for both growth rate reduction and yield inhibition was 3.9 mg/L.
Toxicity to microorganisms:
alpha-Terpineol was tested for ready biodegradability according to OECD 310 and was found to be readily biodegradable.
In the ready biodegradation study, the test item was tested at concentrations of 25.7 mg/L and the inoculum was activated sewage sludge, domestic. The degradation of the test material was assessed by the determination of the inorganic carbon concentration.
At 25.7 mg/L test item concentration, greater than 10% biodegradation of the test substance was reached on Day 5 and greater than 60% biodegradation was reached on Day 12. Hence, the test material met the 10 day window requirement for ready biodegradability. On Days 28, the biodegradation was 80%.
alpha-Terpineol was considered to be non-toxic to micro-organisms as inhibition of the endogenous respiration of the inoculum was not detected during the test at 25.7 mg/L. Therefore, terpineol multiconstituent was considered to be non-toxic to micro-organisms.
