- Conclusions:
- The flash point of substance terpineol multiconstituent was 88°C.
The substance is not classified as flammable according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD)and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP). - Executive summary:
The flash point was determined with a closed cup tester by an equilibrium method "Small Scale", commonly known as Setaflash where the vapours are deemed to be in temperature equilibrium with the liquid. The study was based on the procedures indicated by the following internationally accepted methods:
- ASTM D 3828 -97: Standard Test Methods for Flash Point by Small Scale Closed Tester.
- EU method Part A, A.9
Two measurements were performed.
The flash point of the substance terpinolene multiconstituent was 88°C.

The measured values for the reference substances were:
Flash point of butanol: 36.0°C and 36.0°C (reference value : 35°C)
Flash point of N,N dimethylformamide: 58.1°C and 59.0°C (reference value : 58°C)
Flash point of Setaflash Certified Material 99878 -3: 74.3°C and 75.0°C (reference value : 74.5°C)
The measured values for the test item were : 87.9°C and 88.0°C.
According to the Standard Test Method ASTM D 3828 -97 the precision of the method is for a flash point of 149°C as follow:
Repeatability: 2.0°C
Reproductibility: 7.5°C
Description of key information
The flash point of terpineol multiconstituent was 88°C
The substance is not classified as flammable according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
- 88 °C
Additional information
The flash point of terpineol multiconstituent was determined in a study performed according to ASTM D 3828-97 method and EU method A9. The value was considered with a reliability of 2 (reliable with restrictions) because the result is scientifically acceptable but not obtained under GLP and some details were lacking in the report. However the measured flash point is valid for key value.
Literature data, although not assignable, provide consistent results and support the absence of classification.
