Executive summary:

The relative self-ignition temperature of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.16 under GLP conditions.

A wire mesh cube was completely filled with the test material and placed in the centre of the oven at room temperature. A thermocouple was placed in the centre of the sample and another in the oven. The oven temperature was programmed to increase from ambient to 400°C at a rate of 30°C/hour.

The test material was a fine white granular solid; on completion of the test, the test material was a white granular solid although it had decreased in volume. Whilst heating the test material an exothermic reaction was observed.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material was determined to have a relative self-ignition temperature of 334°C (607 K).
