Pure tetrafluoroethanesultone vapors turned out to be flammable and
highly explosive; a regime of flame propagation was registered in
initiation of their decomposition. The parameters of explosion of
tetrafluoroethylene vapors are noticeably lower than those of C2F4.
The flammability of the initial and the final product of the process to
obtained tetrafluoroethansultone were studied in autoclave. Mixture of C2F4,
SO3 and/or tetrafluoroethanesultone
were made and ignited in this autoclave.
After ignition of pure tetrafluoroethanesultone vapors, a regime of
flame propagation was registered. The pure vapors of
tetrafluoroethanesultone are flammable, the possibility of decomposition
of the liquid product without access of any oxidizer in the deflagration
regime cannot be excluded. Deflagration of the liquid phase is
particularly hazardous for storage and use of such products.
