Administrative data

First-aid measures

Ingestion: Burning of mouth area may be reduced or eliminated through continued rinsing with water. Do not induce vomiting. Drink large quantities of water. Consult a physician.
Skin: Flush exposed areas with water. Rinse thoroughly. Remove contaminated clothing. Consult a physician.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Consult a physician.
Eye: Flush eyes immediately with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Water, dry chemical, CO2, or foam.
Special hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products or resulting gases: May decompose to form CO2 and potentially toxic or irritating fumes.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective gear.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Environmental precautions: Contain all spills. Keep away from drains, surface or ground water or soil.
Methods for cleaning up: Neutralize with dilute caustic solution. Absorb with inert media and dispose of properly. Flush area with large amounts of water.
Additional advice: Disposal of all materials shall be in full and strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with eyes and skin. No special fire and explosion precaution measures required.
Storage: Store in a cool dry place and away from caustic. Exposure to elevated temperatures may lead to product degradation. Avoid heat and freezing. Protect container from physical damage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Use protective chemical resistant aprons, gloves and chemical safety goggles for skin, hand and eye protection.
Have immediate access to eyewash fountain and safety shower stations.
Work in a well-ventilated area.
Approved NIOSH/MSHA respirator with organic vapor cartridge for respiratory protection.

Stability and reactivity

General Information: Solutions of concentration 75% and lower are stable. There are no known hazardous reactions when stored and used properly.

Disposal considerations

Neutralize with dilute caustic and absorb with an inert media like vermiculate and dispose of properly. Disposal of material and container shall be in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations.
