Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
26. Mar. 1998
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: 7-7-B
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 1. August 1999
- Purity test date: not stated

RADIOLABELLING INFORMATION (if applicable)
not applicable

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: room temperature
- Stability under test conditions: assumed stable
- Solubility and stability of the test substance in the solvent/vehicle: not applicable
- Reactivity of the test substance with the solvent/vehicle of the cell culture medium: not applicable

Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
In conclusion, DIPENTAERYTHRITYL HEXAHYDROXYSTEARATE/STEARATE/ROSINATE
is not ”highly flammable" according to the criteria of the guideline.
Executive summary:

The determination of the flammability of the test article was performed in accordance with the

EEC Directive 92/69, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties,

A. 10 “Flammability (solids)”, EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992.

DIPENTAERYTHRITYL HEXAHYDROXYSTEARATE/STEARATE/ROSINATE could not be

ignited with a flame during the pretest (contact time of about 2 minutes). In contact with the

ignition source, DIPENTAERYTHRITYL HEXAHYDROXYSTEARATE/STEARATE/

ROSINATE melted to a yellow coloured melt.

Therefore, no main test could be performed.
