2. Based on the immobility of daphnia magna by the exposure with the test chemical for 24 hrs, the EC0 was determine to be > 2500 mg/l.
3. Based on the immobility of daphnia magna by the test chemical, the EC50 value in 24 hrs was determined to be 109.13 mg/l.
Executive summary:

Short term toxicity of Benzenesulfonamide, 4-methyl-, reaction products with formaldehyde and melamine (97808 -67 -8) on the growth and other biological activity of aquatic invertebrates is predicted on the basis of it structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals. The studies are as mentioned below:

Short term toxicity study was performed to determine the toxic effect of the structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals on the invertebrates. Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilization Test according to OECD Guideline 202 was conducted for test chemical to assess the toxic effects of the test compound on the test Daphnids. Beaker containing 20ml of media with 10 Daphinds. A semi-static procedure was used for the study. The nominal concentration selected for the experiment was 100 mg/L and test Daphnids were exposed to this concentration for 48hours. The Effective concentrations EC50 was found to be >100 mg/L. Thus, according to the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of thesubstance, it is concluded that test chemicaal does not exhibit toxicity to aquatic invertebrate (daphnia magna) andtherefore it cannot be classified as hazardous substance.

Similar study was performed for another structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals. Aim of this study was to investigate the effect of test chemical on the growth of aquatic invertebrates. Test conducted according to the standard OECD guidelines with the total exposure period of 24 hrs. Freshwater daphnia magna were used as a test organism. After the exposure period no effect were observed. Based on the immobility of daphnia magna by the exposure with the test chemical for 24 hrs, the EC0 was determine to be > 2500 mg/l. Thus based on the EC0, chemical was consider as nontoxic and not classified as per the CLP classification criteria.

Similarly Aim of this study was to determine the short term toxicity of test chemical on the growth and behavior of freshwater aquatic invertebrate daphnia magna for 24 hrs. Based on the immobility of daphnia magna by the test chemical, the EC50 value in 24 hrs was determined to be 109.13 mg/l. Based on the result, it was concluded that the test chemical was nontoxic and not classified according to the CLP regulations.

Thus based on the overall studies for the structurally and functionally similar read across chemical for Benzenesulfonamide, 4-methyl-, reaction products with formaldehyde and melamine (97808 -67 -8), it can be concluded that the test chemical was nontoxic as value ranges from > 100 to > 2500 mg/l and not classified as per the CLP classification criteria.

Description of key information

1. Based on nominal concentrations, experimental median effective Concentrations [EC-50 (48 h)] for test chemical on test daphnia was determine to be >100 mg/L.

Thus based on above data, the chemical was consider as nontoxic and not classified as per the CLP classification criteria.
