Key result
Flash point:
147 °C
Atm. press.:

The flash point of Dodecane control was determined to be 79.1 °C, hardly deviating from the literature value (78.6 °C, ASTM D 7094, Table X1.1). In case of the test item three parallel tests were carried out. The measured flash points of the test item were: 146.2 °C, 147.2 °C and 148.2 °C resulting a mean value: 147 °C. The repeatability criterion was met because the maximum difference between replicate determinations was not more than 2 °C.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flash point of the test item was determined, using Pensky-Martens Closed Cup method, to be 147 °C.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.9, OPPTS 830.6513, ASTM D93, ASTM D6450 and ASTM DT7094 to determine the flash point of the test item using a closed cup method with Pensky-Martens apparatus. For the test about 2 mL of the test item were filled in the cup. The test was performed twice. The measured flash point at atmospheric pressure was corrected to a standard pressure of 1013 hPa. The flash point was determined to be 147 °C at 101.3 kPa.

Description of key information

The flash point of the test item was determined, using Pensky-Martens Closed Cup method, to be 147 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
