Description of key information

The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water), log Pow, of 2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol was 1.79, 1.80 and 1.75 in 1:1, 1:2 and 2:1 ratios of octanol/water solutions respectively.

The mean partition coefficient, log Pow of test item was 1.8, measured by the Shake flask method (OECD 107).

Additional information

The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water), log Pow, of2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol was determined by following OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/ water), Shake Flask Method), EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient) and the GLP.

400 mL of n-octanol solution, saturated with water and containing 600 mg of test material (1 mg/mL) was prepared, and three tests using different ratios of n-octanol/water (1:1, 1:2 and 2:1) were performed. The tests were run in duplicate, for each ratio of n-octanol/water.

Test vessels were shaken for 2 hours on a mechanical shaker, and then the two phases were separated and treated for analysis. The concentrations of the test material in both phases were analyzed via HPLC using UV/Visible detector.

The pH-value was determined to be 5.6.

The Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water), log Pow, of 2-amino-6-chloro-4-nitrophenol was as follows:

Octanol/water (1:1): 1.79 (mean value of replicates)

Octanol/water (1:2): 1.80 (mean value of replicates)

Octanol/water (2:1): 1.75 (mean value of replicates)
