First-aid measures

- First-aid measures general : Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

- First-aid measures after inhalation : If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a poison center or a doctor. If breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

- First-aid measures after skin contact : After contact with skin, take off immediately all contaminated clothing, and wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If irritation persists, consult a doctor.

- First-aid measures after eye contact : IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophtalmologist if irritation persists.

- First-aid measures after ingestion : Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

- Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction.

- Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Eye irritation.

- Symptoms/effects after ingestion : May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

- Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray. carbon dioxide (CO2), dry chemical powder, foam.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media : Do not use a heavy water stream.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

- Fire hazard : Under fire conditions, hazardous fumes will be present.

- Explosion hazard : Prolonged exposure to fire may cause containers to rupture/explode.

- Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire : Carbon oxides (CO, CO2). nitrogen oxides (NOx) and chlorine.

Advice for firefighters:

- Precautionary measures fire : Evacuate the danger area.

- Firefighting instructions : Fight fire remotely due to the risk of explosion. Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Do not breathe fumes from fires or vapours from decomposition.

- Protection during firefighting : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. Self-contained breathing apparatus.

- Other information : Large amounts of the product should not be allowed to enter drains or water courses or be deposited where it can affect ground or surface waters.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

- General measures : Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area.

For non-emergency personnel

- Protective equipment: Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment.

- Emergency procedures : If a major spill occurs, all personnel should be immediately evacuated and the area ventilated. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapours.

For emergency responders

- Protective equipment: Wear recommended personal protective equipment. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye or face protection

Environmental precautions: Dispose of at a licensed waste collection centre. Prevent from entering sewers, basements and workpits, or any place where its accumulation can be dangerous.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

- For containment : Contain the spilled material by bunding. Soak up spills with inert solids, such as clay or diatomaceous earth as soon as possible.

- Methods for cleaning up : Sweep up or vacuum up the product. Wash away remainder with plenty of water.

- Other information : Use suitable disposal containers. Dispose of contaminated material at an authorized site.

Reference to other sections: For further information refer to section 8: "Exposure controls/personal protection". Concerning disposal elimination after cleaning, see section 13.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

- Precautions for safe handling : Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Do not breathe vapours. Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. Use personal protective equipment as required. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Use only explosion-proof equipment.

- Hygiene measures : Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

- Technical measures : Use special care to avoid static electric charges. Ground well.

- Storage conditions : Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place. Store in tightly closed containers. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

- Incompatible materials : Strong oxidizing agents.

- Storage temperature : 2 - 8 °C

- Heat and ignition sources : Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Keep away from heat.

- Storage area : Install a retention tank.

Specific end use(s): No additional information available.

- Eye protection: Wear tight fitting safety glasses or facial screen. Emergency eye wash fountains should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

- Skin and body protection: In case of repeated or prolonged exposure: Fully enclosed impervious protective suit with integral or tight-fitting gloves, boots, self-contained or supplied air respirator must be worn

- Respiratory protection: Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. Where excessive vapour may result, wear approved mask. Gas mask with filter type A2B2

Other information: Emergency safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Stability and reactivity

- Reactivity: Flammable liquid and vapour

- Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions of use

- Possibility of hazardous reactions: None

- Conditions to avoid: Keep off any ignition sources (e.g, heat, sparks, flam, impact, friction, electricity...).

- Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents

- Hazardous decomposition products: Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous decomposition products should not be produced.

Disposal considerations

- Regional legislation (waste) : Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.

- Waste treatment methods : Dispose of this material and its container at hazardous or special waste collection point. Do not empty into drains.
