Administrative data
First-aid measures
GENERAL:
Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
First aider needs to protect himself.
Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination.
INHALATION:
Move to fresh air.
Keep at rest.
Consult a physician.
CONTACT WITH SKIN:
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.
Quickly flush any remaining acid from the skin with copious amounts of water for at least 5 minutes and then apply calcium gluconate gel (with appropriate gloves), and massage into burnt area. Judgement can be used to interrupt lavage at intervals for applying calcium gluconate gel, intermittantly, to prevent absorption of fluoride ions. Continue to massage while repeatedly applying gel until 15 minutes after the pain in the burnt area is relieved. If calcium gluconate gel is not available, continue to flush with water, until the gel is available. Continue the above treatment until medical attention is available. Immediate medical attention is required.
CONTACT WITH EYES:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Get immediate medical advice.
INGESTION:
Do NOT induce vomiting.
Do not give anything to drink.
Obtain medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:
Suitable : Carbon dioxide (CO2), powder
Unsuitable : NO aqueous agents.
HAZARD DURING FIRE-FIGHTING:
Highly toxic gases are released.
In the presence of water, forms corrosive solutions.
Aqueous solution causes burns of eyes, skin and mucous membranes.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIE-FIGHTING:
Full protective suit
Personal protective equipment comprising: suitable protective gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing

SPECIFIC FIRE-FIGHTING METHODS:
Do not inhale fumes. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Wear suitable protective equipment.
Accidental release measures
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.
Do not breathe vapour.
Complete suit protecting against chemicals
Self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 133)
Stop the leak. Turn leaking containers leak-side up to prevent the escape of liquid.
Collect spillage.
Local exhaust
Mark the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorized personnel.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS:
Do not allow uncontrolled discharge of product into the environment.
Dam up.
METHODS FOR CLEANING OR TAKING UP:
Recovery : Keep in properly labelled containers. Acid resistant materials.
Neutralization : If recovery is impossible, or if the pools are too small:Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Neutralize with lime milk, calcium carbonate or soda and flush with plenty of water.
Decontamination/cleaning : Wash the non-recoverable remainder with sodium carbonate solution (5 % Na2 CO3). Wash off with plenty of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.
Disposal : Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".
Further Accidental Release Measures
Only qualified personnel equipped with suitable protective equipment may intervene.
Handling and storage
ADVICE ON SAFE HANDLING:
Closed system. Keep in a bunded area with acid resisting floor. Vapour extraction at source
Do not allow contact with air. Never add water to this product. Protect from moisture.
HYGIENE MEASURES
Ensure eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Use clean, well- maintained personel personal protection equipment. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of the workday. When using, do not drink, eat or smoke.
Emergency equipment immediately accessible, with instructions for use.
Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.
Technical measures for storage:
The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.
Store in a cool well-ventilated dry place.
Keep away from strong oxidizing agents, acides, alkalis and caustic products, metals.
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Packaging conditions: 316L stainless steel drums, glass bottles.

Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.
Gloves must be inspected prior to use.
Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.

Remove and wash contaminated clothing.

HYGIENE MEASURES:

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.
Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.

The protective equipment must be selected in accordance with current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of the protective equipment.

Stability and reactivity
CHEMICAL STABILITY:
Stable at room temperature, strongly hygroscopic.
HAZARDOUS REACTIONS:
Attacks many metals releasing highly flammable gas (hydrogen) which generates fire or explosion hazards.
Exothermic reaction with water.
Reacts with the following substances: Water, Aqueous solution, Alkalis and caustic products, oxidizing agents, with the release of heat.
DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS:
On combustion or on thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases:

Disposal considerations
ADVICE ON DISPOSAL AND PACKAGING:
Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
Should not be released into the environment.
Do not dispose of together with household waste.
Land-fill is forbidden.
CLEANING AND DISPOSAL OF PACKAGING:
Clean with acetic acid. Rinse with water. Allow it to drain thoroughly. After recovery of solvent dispose of by special waste incineration.
Destroy at an authorised site.
Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
