Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no reliable aquatic toxicity data available for tri(isopropoxy)(vinyl)silane (CAS 18023-33-1), therefore good quality data for the structurally-related substance, trimethoxy(vinyl)silane (CAS 2768-02-7), have been read across.

Reliable short-term and long-term toxicity tests results are available for freshwater invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) for trimethoxy(vinyl)silane (CAS 2768-02-7). The relevant short-term values are:

Daphnia: EC50 (48 h): 168.7 mg/l, equivalent to 120 mg/l (expressed in terms of concentration of the hydrolysis product, vinylsilanetriol); NOEC: not determined.

Algae: ErC50 (72 h): > 89 mg/l; ErC10 >=89 mg/l, equivalent to >64 mg/l (expressed in terms of concentration of the hydrolysis product, vinylsilanetriol).

Numerous supporting results and long-term data are available for the read across substance but are not read-across here.

The rapid hydrolysis of trimethoxy(vinyl)silane (CAS 2768-02-7) (half-life 0.1 h at pH 7 and 20-25 °C) means it is likely that the test organisms in each test were exposed primarily to the hydrolysis products, vinylsilanetriol and methanol.

Refer to IUCLID Section 6 endpoint summary for further discussion of the approach to chemical safety assessment and justification for read across.
