Description of key information

The test item is a brown, solid powder at 20 °C and 1013 hPa and the mean particle size (D50) of the test item is 86 µm.

The evaluation of thermal properties was based on a DSC analysis (0-520 °C): the substance does not melt up to 520 °C and no endothermal or exothermal events were observed.

The relative density of the test item is 1.5747 ± 0.0010 at 20 ± 0.2°C

The substance is very soluble in water at room temperature (35.94 ± 4.30 g/L at 20.0 °C ± 0.5 °C) and its partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) stated as Log Pow is Log Pow = -1.177 ± 0.109 (range: -1.302 to -1.056) at 21.2 °C ± 0.2 °C and pH 4.80 - 4.99°C. For both determination the shake-flask method was used, combined with a validated photometric method.

No reactions with water or emission of flammable gases have ever been noted. Furthermore, for soluble dyes a reaction with water is not a desirable property from the use point of view. Therefore, the substance is not expected as a substance that in contact with water may react emitting flammable gases.

The vapour pressure of the test substance is expected to be negligible as the melting point is above 300 °C.

The surface activity is not expected for the substance as it is not a desired property of the material.

The flash point of the test item is a relevant property as it is a solid which does not melt up to 520 °C.

The substance is not flammable but a relative self ignition temperature of 232.9 °C°C was found.

Screening procedure failed to evidence any reason for concern related to explosive properties of the substance, as no exothermic or endothermic events occur between 0 °C and 520 °C despite the presence of reactive groups.

The substance is considered not to be potentially oxidising, based on a review of the propertiesof the substance.
