1. TDI-Urone could be ignited by the 1000 °C hot platin wire, which was dipped for 5 seconds into the dried substance. TDI-Urone was melting and the ignition process was terminated rapidly (“Bewertungszahl” BWZ 2).

2. TDI-Urone could be ignited by an open gas flame held onto the substance for approx. 10-15 seconds. TDI-Urone was melting and the ignition process was terminated by burning off calmly (“Bewertungszahl” BWZ 2). This reaction could only be observed while the substance was in contact with the open flame.

3. TDI-Urone was burning off calmly when put into a red heated iron bowl for 60 seconds. In a mixture with potassium nitrate the same reaction could be observed ("Bewertungszahl" BWZ 2).

Substances rated with BWZ 2 are not considered to cause a propagating fire after ignition.

Executive summary:

The tests were conducted according to guidelines similar to guideline A.10.

TDI-Urone was dried before testing. The dried TDI-Urone could be ignited by the 1000 °C hot platin wire, which was dipped for 5 seconds into the substance. TDI-Urone was melting and the ignition process was terminated rapidly.

In a second test approx. 200 mg of TDI-Urone were put into a flat iron bowl and heated with an open gas flame burner for 10-15 seconds. TDI-Urone could be ignited and was melting. The ignition process was terminated by burning off calmly.

In a third test approx. 150 mg TDI-Urone and a 1:1 mixture of TDI-Urone with potassium nitrate was put into a red heated iron bowl for 60 seconds. Both, the substance and the 1:1 mixture with potassium nitrate were burning off calmly.

Therefore it is concluded that TDI-Urone could be ignited but is not highly flammable.
