Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 207 (Earthworm, Acute Toxicity Tests)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Test organisms (species):
Eisenia fetida
Animal group:
annelids
Substrate type:
artificial soil
Total exposure duration:
14 d
Nominal and measured concentrations:
316, 422 and 563 mg/kg
Key result
Duration:
14 d
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
472 mg/kg soil dw
Nominal / measured:
not specified
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality
Remarks on result:
other: 95% confidence limits were estimated at 422-563 mg/kg
Key result
Duration:
14 d
Dose descriptor:
NOEC
Effect conc.:
316 mg/kg soil dw
Nominal / measured:
not specified
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality
Details on results:
Mortality of 0, 0, 10% was observed in the control, 316 and 422 mg/kg groups, respectively. 100% mortality occurred at 563 mg/kg and above.
The mean weight change of the surviving worms was not statistically significant at 316 and 422 mglkg. No symptoms of intoxication were
observed in surviving worms at any treatment level after 7 and 14 days exposure.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
In an OECD 207 study, 1-naphthol had an LC50 of 472 mg/kg soil dw and an NOEC of 316 mg/kg soil dw.
Executive summary:

In an OECD 207 study, 1-naphthol had an LC50 of 472 mg/kg soil dw and an NOEC of 316 mg/kg soil dw.
