Additional information

To determine the toxicity of 2-mercaptoethanol to aquatic invertebrates, a GLP-study according to OECD TG 202 using Daphnia magna was performed (Elf Atochem 1999). As the detection limit was 0.5 mg/l and thus for the nominal concentrations below 0.9 mg/l no test substance could be determined analytically, a linear extrapolation method was used to calculate effective concentrations. By doing this an EC50 (48h) value in this study of 0.4 mg/l was estimated.
