Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0, the density of Sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate was estimated to be 1.68 g/cm3.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of Sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of Sodium 6-amino-5-[[4-chloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonate at 25 deg C was 1.5598E-19 Pa.

Partition coefficient

Based on the available data from modeling databases using the KOWWIN V1.68 programme, octanol water partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the test substance sodium 6 -amino-5-[[4-chloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonate was estimated to be 0.95. Thus, on the basis of logPow value, chemical sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonatecan be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

The estimated water solubility of Sodium 6-amino-5-[[4-chloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonate at 25 deg C was  248 mg/l.

Surface tension:

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. Sodium 6-amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate (CAS no.57741 -47 -6) is used as a fabric dyeing & printing. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.

Flash point:

The flash point of Sodium 6-amino-5-[[4-chloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonate  is determine to be greater than 300°C at 980.9 hPa.

Auto flammability:

Sodium 6-amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Sodium 6-amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Sodium 6 -amino-5 -[[4 -chloro-2 -(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]azo]-4 -hydroxynaphthalene-2 -sulphonate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid.
