Additional information

The requirement to conduct an n-octanol/water partition coefficient study for the submission substance is waived in accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI because under dilute conditions in water, the substance hydrolyses very rapidly to form [2-(perfluorobutyl)ethyl](methyl)silanediol and hydrochloric acid.

The log Kow of the silanol hydrolysis product, [2-(perfluorobutyl)ethyl]methylsilanediol has been estimated to be 3.3 at 20°C using a validated QSAR estimation method. Log Kow is not relevant for the other non-silanol hydrolysis product (hydrochloric acid), being an inorganic substance.
